Transitioning from Summer to Fall

Something that I have always struggled with is the transition from Summer to Fall. You don't want to be "that girl" that is still rocking her bright colors, or a sundress, because it is a known fact that when Starbucks drops their pumpkin spice line, you immediately need to put on a chunky sweater.

I would be totally down for that if I didn't grow up in South Florida where it is Summer weather year round. Or even locations similar to where I currently live; the temperatures do not start to drop until mid-late October. So what are we supposed to do?! Tough it out and throw on the chunky sweater, only to remember why you moved to North Carolina in the first place? My mom has always said "beauty is pain"... No! No one wants to be miserably hot, all to impress our instagram followers with a cute "Fall" photo.

Don't stress - you can slowly transition by following the Fall color trends. This keeps you from looking out of place in a room full of basic b*thes, all suffering in their sweaters for the 'gram.

For those of you that don't know, Haley (the owner, buyer, mad genius behind Thirteen West) is an expert when it comes to nailing a color palette. When selecting the items for her shop, she first creates a mood board that targets specific, on-trend colors to keep a cohesive shop. Smart, I know!

So why does that matter? This attention to detail allows you to purchase anything from the shop, feeling confident that it can be worn throughout the targeted season.

I bring this all up because this week's featured item is the Lanne Midi. The dusty rose shade of pink is super on trend right now, making it an easy staple for these early fall months. Keep reading to get my tips and tricks on how I would edit this piece.

edit #1

For this edit, I am focusing on the dress as a top with a textured nude brallette to give the sheer look some dimension.

To me, this outfit is perfect for a SoCal, early fall vibe.

I paired this look with my favorite Gigi Pip hat and the most versatile layering necklace ever, which are both linked below.

For the items you can not find at 13W:

edit #2

For this edit, I am focusing on the dress as a top with a plain nude brallette to not distract from the sheer look.

To me, this outfit is perfect for strutting the sidewalks of Manhattan in early fall.

I paired this look with my favorite NEW denim, the best dainty hoops, and the most versatile layering necklace ever, which are all linked below.

edit #3

For this edit, I am focusing on the dress as an outerwear piece paired with a plain nude slip to keep the look clean and simple, leaving the belt and earrings to make a statement.

To me, this outfit is perfect for anywhere really...but would be especially cute for an early dinner on the water in sunny South Florida.

I hope you guys enjoyed this first edit! I am so excited to go on this adventure and have some fun playing with clothes. If you have any questions or suggestions, feel free to leave a comment below and I will get back to you!

'til next time. - E
